No one really does custom order hollowbody blanks in the sense that brands like MJT/Guitar Mill do solid body blanks for parts guitars. Ideally it's something I'd keep for a long time, so I wouldn't mind putting the money into it. Those also cost a hell of a lot more, so the Elitist + refin is probably more reasonable and comparable in terms of quality. The other option would be to try and find one of those nitro finished, proper reissue Revolution Lennon Casinos and have it refin'd, but I'm sure there are people out there who'd cringe at the thought of refinishing a faithful replica of the Lennon guitar, especially considering it's supposed to be 'stripped'. How would you guys approach this? My first inclination is to go after a higher end Casino for the sake of build quality, like an Elitist, and send it off to Rexter or MJT, but I don't know if they'd strip the poly as I know it's a bitch. I really love the parallelogram inlays on the Casino and the chrome/white guard look, so I'm thinking I'm gonna try to find a way to make this doable. But finding a damn Pelham Blue Casino so far has proven to be impossible, and the ES-330s I'm finding are all $3300 and '59 reissues with dot inlays and black pickup covers/pickguard/knobs. Like many of you, custom colors are my weak spot.
